Great news for travellers! Vietnam is making it even easier to visit with the launch of a brand new, user-friendly and optimized electronic visa (e-Visa) portal on November 11th, 2024. This updated platform aims to streamline the application process, offering a more user-friendly experience with enhanced features for applicants worldwide.

What is an E-Visa?

An e-Visa, or electronic visa, is a convenient way to obtain permission to enter Vietnam before your trip. Since its launch in February 2017, the e-Visa program has become increasingly popular, offering travelers a faster and more efficient alternative to traditional visa applications.

Enhanced e-Visa Portal for Seamless Application

Since its launch in 2017, Vietnam’s e-Visa system has evolved significantly, providing a convenient entry option for travelers from eligible countries.

The Immigration Department under Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has announced the debut of an enhanced e-Visa portal, set to go live on November 11, 2024. This upgraded platform aims to streamline the application process with a user-friendly design and new accessibility options.

Key Requirements for Vietnam e-Visa Application

The new platform requires applicants to upload a passport photo and a scanned copy of the passport’s information page. To facilitate accuracy, the system matches the uploaded images with passport data, automating parts of the e-Visa form.

Applicants can then verify personal details, passport information, travel plans, and select the type of visa they need. This efficient pre-filling process is part of Vietnam’s effort to reduce application errors and streamline approvals.

  • Multiple-entry visa (US$50): This visa grants you multiple entries to Vietnam within the validity period.
