According to the PTI report, a group of lawmakers has requested the public release of approval and denial rates for nonimmigrant visas listed in the December 19th USCIS fact sheet in a recent letter addressed to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

The lawmakers have specifically requested data on the approval and denial rates for newly unemployed H-1B visa holders who have applied for these visas.

Limited Window of 60 Days for Unemployed H-1B Holders

The lawmakers have expressed concern about the 60-day window for unemployed H-1B holders to obtain a new visa. They’ve emphasised the importance of making informed decisions about which visas to apply for, and they’ve urged USCIS to make this information public.

Duration of Time Taken by USCIS to Process Visa Applications

In addition to approval and denial rates, lawmakers have also asked for information on how long it takes USCIS to process visa applications submitted by newly unemployed H-1B holders.

They are concerned about the potential consequences of processing times that exceed the 60-day grace period.

Call for Transparency in Visa Approval Process

This letter emphasizes the importance of providing individuals seeking visas with timely information and the need for transparency in the visa approval process.

The lawmakers highlighted the impact of delayed processing times on H-1B holders’ ability to remain in the United States and work legally.

This letter has yet to be responded to by the USCIS. The release of this information to the public will assist newly unemployed H-1B holders in making informed decisions about their visa applications. It will ensure a more transparent visa approval process.
