The Ministry of Home Affairs, under phase 3 of ‘Unlock‘ announced that International Flights Permitted In A Limited Manner Under Vande Bharat Mission.
Domestic flights and vande Bharat Mission repatriation flights will continue to operate.
International flights will be remain grounded.
But, as of now, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri hinted that international flights might resume before August or September. But only if the situation gets better.
International Flights Might Resume Before August-September
As per the Ministry, limited activities continue to remain prohibited in the whole country.
- These include international air travel, metros, gyms, swimming pools, theatres, bars and entertainment parks.
The government states that these activities will only be permitted after more consultations and assessments of the situation.
However, no specific date is mentioned for the same.
International Flights To Restart In the Third Phase Of ‘Unlock’
The ministry released its guidelines to gradually unlock activities. It was signaled that international flights may be restarted in the third phase of activation.
- The order states that, based on the assessment of the situation, dates for the restart of the activities are decided.
- The list indicates that international passenger air travel, if permitted by MHA, may resume.
However, india suspended international flights from March 22. The suspension was later extended to domestic flights.
This coincided with the national lockdown to curb the coronavirus.
Domestic flights resumed on May 25th. Many countries are now planning to open their doors to international travelers.
Greece plans to open from June 15th. Other countries are Mexico, Thailand and the Caribbean Islands, which may also open borders to international visitors in June.
