According to an update, student visa applications are presently taking 5 weeks on average to process. The UK embassy stated that they are working hard to process applications in order to get back to the three-week service standard.

You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks once you either attend your appointment at the visa application centre or use the ID Check app if you are applying for a:

  • Short-term study visa
  • Student visa
  • Child Student visa

If you verify your identity at a visa application centre you may be able to get your visa faster or other services depending on what country you’re in – check with your visa application centre.

Work or invest in the UK

Similarly, skilled worker visa applications are currently taking on average 6 weeks to process. The Uk high commission is working hard to process applications to get back to the 3-week service standard.

The British High Commission spokesperson, in a conversation with Mint, also said,  “We are working urgently to reduce the current processing time as quickly as possible.”

He added that Non-settlement visa applications received outside the UK are normally decided within three weeks, 98 per cent within six weeks, and 100 per cent within twelve weeks of the application date. However, the wait time has increased this time.
