In an effort to simplify passport renewal for UAE citizens, the Digital Government has revealed that the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) now offers a round-the-clock passport renewal facility at the Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports.

Five Ways to Renew Your Emirati Passport

UAE citizens can now obtain, renew, or get a replacement for a lost or damaged Emirati passport through five different channels. These include using the;

  1. The General Departments of Residency and Foreigners Affairs/Citizenship Section.
  2. The Nationality and Residence portal (eChannels).
  3. The online passport service for citizens.
  4. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).
  5. Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah Airports.

24/7 Passport Renewal Facility

The passport renewal service provided at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports is now available 24 hours a day. This means that if a UAE citizen loses their passport, or if it is damaged or expired, they can contact the UAE embassy or consulate and obtain a new one at the airport.

Validity of UAE Passports

It’s important to note that UAE passports are only valid for up to five years. When applying for a new passport, the national must submit three documents.
