The first Air India flight, AI1975, from Delhi landed at Sharjah International Airport at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 12, a senior Air India official said in Dubai.
At least three flights from the Indian cities of Delhi, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram started at 10.50 a.m. and showed expat groups and passengers on board.
According to airlines and travel agencies, more flights are expected to start as the day passes.
According to Mohit Mulchandani, an expat who helps stranded Indians on the Facebook and WhatsApp support group “UAE Residents in India”, Emirates Airlines flight EK511 from Delhi to Dubai will be one of the first to land in the Emirate later in the afternoon.
In a message to passengers traveling on July 12th, Mulchandani said: “For everyone who flies today, we are so proud of you that you have lasted so long and are now moving home. You will be our travel warrior since You have taken responsibility to be the first to go through the complicated process of our return.“
According to an Air India Express official, the IX 738 from Thiruvananthapuram was scheduled to land in Dubai at 12.55 p.m. as of today.
