According to the report of WAM, the United Arab Emirates on Thursday imposed a ban on its citizens to travel to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Namibia, Zambia, Congo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa, and Nigeria.
The Foreign Ministry and the National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority stressed that, with the start of the travel season, citizens need to comply with all precautionary and preventive measures related to COVID-19, WAM added.
Exempt from the decision are the UAE diplomatic missions in the aforementioned countries; emergency treatment cases; official delegations; and previously authorized business and technical delegates.
UAE Travel Ban on India and Others
It is important to note that UAE has already extended the suspension on travel from India and 12 other countries until July 21, 2021.
“On June 24th, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of UAE has issued a NOTAM (Notice Issued to Airmen) and said that the flights from India and 13 other countries will remain suspended until 23:59 hrs. of July 21, 2021.”
The list of other countries includes Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic Of Congo, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Etihad Suspends Flights
Etihad Airways, the second flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday confirms that all Etihad flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka remain suspended until 21 July.
The airline in response to a customer’s query said, “We have just received an update, and flights from India have been suspended till the 21st July. We’ll keep the ticket open for you, and you can reschedule it at a later stage by calling our Call Centre team. They might be handling a high volume of calls.”
Emirates continues to accept bookings from July 7
However, Dubai’s flag carrier Emirates Airlines said on Twitter flights from India were available from July 7 but cautioned that could change. “We’re waiting for the exact travel protocols and guidelines before we can resume.”
