Brand Finance, the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy in its annual ‘Hotels 50 2022‘ report, stated that India’s Taj Hotels had been named the Strongest Hotel Brand in the World for the second year in a row.
Taj Hotels has also been named the World’s Strongest Hotel Brand by Brand Finance for the year 2021.
Notably, the Taj Hotel is managed by The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a hospitality company based in India that operates hotels, resorts, jungle safaris, palaces, spas, and in-flight catering services. The company is a part of the Tata Group of India.
Taj Hotels is the strongest brand in the ranking with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 88.9 out of 100 and a corresponding AAA brand rating.
Taj received an overall Brand Strength Index of 88.9 out of 100, with AAA ratings for customer familiarity, employee satisfaction, corporate reputation, and world-class customer service.

Despite a 6% increase in brand value (US$314 million), Taj Hotels’ ranking has dropped ten steps since 2021, and the hotel now ranks 48th on the list of the top 50 most valuable hotel brands.
The pandemic and subsequent national lockdowns hit Taj like other hotels worldwide, and Taj was able to successfully adjust strategies to remain relevant to the need of tourists. Taj was at the forefront of this with agility and strategic initiatives such as offering support to the healthcare sector.
