Thailand Travel: Bangkok Airport Witnessed Long Queues of Tourists Seeking Visas On-Arrival

Following the removal of all Covid-19 related restrictions and the opening of borders to tourists, the Southeast Asian country has seen an influx of tourists.

Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) currently witnessing long queues of tourists, who have to wait for hours to get on-arrival visas.

Get Visas from Embassy to Avoid Long Queues

To avoid long lines, we always advise our readers to obtain their visas from the embassy or consulate. And now Pattarat Hongtong, Thailand’s Ambassador to India on Sunday advised Indian tourists on to obtain visas from the embassy or consulate to avoid long lines at Bangkok’s airport for immigration clearance.

He added that on social media, Thai authorities are flooded with complaints from helpless tourists.

In an interview with a news agency, ANI Pattarat said, “I think it is quite natural for any airport, not only Thailand. When we open the borders, nobody can expect the actual number of incoming visitors or tourists. So that’s why for Indians, we advise them to get the visa from embassy or consulate before travelling to Thailand that can be helpful to things.”

She emphasised that the Bangkok International Airport is taking steps, such as increasing staff, to provide the best services to international tourists.

“We have tried to improve by increasing the people who work at the airport to facilitate the tourists,” said Pattarat in the interview.

Between January and August of this year, Thailand received over 3.78 million tourists, the majority of whom came from India, Malaysia, and Singapore. Tourists are extremely important to the Thai economy.

The Ambassador attributed the long lines of tourists seeking visas on arrival.

Thailand e-Visa On-Arrival

Recently, VFS Global which is the official partner of the Thai Embassy in a notice for its customers announced that travellers from 18 countries can now also apply for their Thailand eVisa on Arrival through their official website.

Currently, Thailand’s eVisa on Arrival is available for travellers from 18 nationalities. It must be noted that the applicant should have been residing in the eligible countries for at least 21 consecutive days.
