Thailand Expands Visa-Free Travel to 93 Countries Starting July 15

Starting July 15, Thailand will expand its visa-free entry policy to 93 countries, up from 57, allowing visitors to stay up to 60 days. The country will also double the number of countries eligible for visas on arrival and introduce a new long-term visa aimed at digital nomads and freelancers.

Great news for globetrotters! Starting July 15, Thailand will significantly expand its visa-free travel policy to include citizens from 93 countries, up from the previous 57. This move aims to promote tourism and encourage longer stays, according to Traisuree Taisaranakul, spokesperson for Thailand’s Interior Ministry.

Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has signed four key documents to facilitate travel for foreign visitors. These changes, pending their announcement in the Royal Gazette, will take effect on July 15.

Details of the New Visa-Free Policy

Visitors from the newly eligible countries will be allowed to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa. This initiative is part of Thailand’s broader strategy to enhance its appeal as a prime tourist destination.

Visa on Arrival Expansion

In addition to the visa-free entry expansion, Thailand will nearly double the number of economies eligible for visas on arrival, increasing from 19 to 31. This change is expected to further streamline the entry process for international travellers.

Introducing the Destination Thailand Visa

Thailand is also launching a new visa service targeting digital nomads, freelancers, and individuals interested in activities such as cooking and Muay Thai. The Destination Thailand Visa, valid for five years, permits holders to stay in the country for up to 180 days. This initiative is designed to attract a new segment of long-term visitors and contribute to the local economy.
