Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) on Wednesday announced that all tourist visa holders are required a mandatory Covid-19 Insurance coverage to enter the island country of South Asia.
As per the announcement made by Upul Dharmadasa, the Chairman of CAASL the Covid-19 insurance coverage should be purchased online from https://portal.pionline.lk/covidinsurance/ or on arrival.
This Covid-19 insurance will cost USD 12 for the mandatory one-month insurance and has a cover of USD 50,000 including hospitalization if needed due to COVID-19 infection.
The announcement also said that those who are holding Sri Lankan passports do not require Covid-19 insurance when traveling to Sri Lanka.

Important Notice For Passengers Traveling to Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan passport holders do not require the Covid-19 Insurance coverage when traveling to Sri Lanka.
All Tourist visa holders require a travel Insurance coverage for a minimum of USD 50,000 including cover for hospitalized treatment for Covid-19 infection.
The Covid-19 Insurance coverage is not required to board an aircraft but upon landing in Sri Lanka if the tourist visa holder is not carrying the Covid-19 Insurance coverage for a minimum of USD 50,000, he/she must purchase the policy prior to leaving the respective airport in Sri Lanka.
We recommend you obtain the insurance online prior to departure. If you are unable to do so, you can purchase the policy prior to leaving the airport in Sri Lanka.
