Sri Lanka Lifts Covid-19 Restrictions for International Travellers

Sri Lanka an island country in South Asia on Wednesday announced that it will lift several restrictions for foreign travellers arriving in the country. This follows the recent success in controlling the spread of Covid-19 within the country.

Sri Lanka Lifts Travel Restrictions

All international travellers arriving in Sri Lanka will now not be required to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of their arrival. They will also not be required to quarantine for 14 days upon the arrival.

However, if someone tests positive for the virus on arrival will have to isolate for a period of seven days at a private hospital.

Previously, travellers were required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival, regardless of their PCR test results. This new policy aims to provide travellers with more flexibility and a safer travel experience.

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga, stated that the country is ready to welcome back international travellers and that safety remains the top priority. He added that the country has implemented strict health protocols to ensure the well-being of both travellers and locals.

The lifting of restrictions is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, which has been severely impacted by the pandemic. The country is known for its beautiful beaches, wildlife, and ancient ruins, and is a popular destination for both leisure and adventure travellers.
