No-frills carrier SpiceJet has announced a direct flight between India’s business capital Mumbai and Male, Capital of the Maldives under the air bubble arrangements.
SpiceJet will start this direct flight between Mumbai and Male from 24th Dec 2020. The airline is also offering the introductory fare of ₹9012 for Mumbai to Male and ₹9501 from Male to Mumbai.

The airline has also opened the bookings of these flights, tickets can be booked from SpiceJet website, Travel Agents, and Online Booking Portals.
Here is the details of OTB Requirements for travel between Mumbai and Male.
- “Ok to Board” permission is NOT required for:
- Customers holding a valid Resident Permit or passport stamped with Resident Visa
- Customers eligible for “Visa on Arrival” irrespective of nationality
- Customers traveling with a print-out of Business and Tourist e-Visa
- “Ok to Board” permission is required for:
- All customers holding ECR (Emigration Check Required) passport
- All customers traveling with a print-out of Labour & Work e-Visa
As per the air bubble agreement between both countries the following categories of persons can travel on air bubble flights:
From India to Maldives:
- Maldivian nationals/residents and foreign nationals holding valid Maldivian visas, if required;
- Any Indian national. It would be for the airlines concerned to ensure that there is no travel restriction for Indian nationals to enter the Maldives before the issue of ticket/ boarding pass to the Indian passenger.
From Maldives to India:
- Indian nationals;
- All Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders holding Maldivian passports, and
- Foreigners (including diplomats) holding a valid visa issued by an Indian Mission in any category covered under Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines dated 30.06.2020 as amended from time to time.
