Singapore and Malaysia are expected to resume important business and business trips between their countries, they said on Tuesday.

This would be the first time they will let people cross their borders since most movements of the coronavirus stopped in March.

Both countries have agreed to develop other appropriate schemes for cross-border movement of people including a daily cross-border commuting proposal for work purposes.

The neighbors also made travel arrangements for their residents who have long-term immigration cards for doing business and working in the other country, their foreign ministries said in a joint statement.

Officials are working toward a target start date of Aug 10, adding that they have also agreed to develop other programs for cross-border movements, including daily commuting for workers.

According to the statement, the green lane will enable cross-border travel for essential business and official purposes.

Eligible travelers must adhere to the Covid 19 prevention and health measures agreed by both countries. You must submit and follow a controlled itinerary.

Malaysia is also a major staple source of food for Singapore, which imports more than 90% of its food supplies, and goods have crossed the line since the restrictions on people were imposed in mid-March.
