Singapore Airport Relaunches Free City Tours for Transit and Transfer Passengers

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Changi Airport in Singapore has recently relaunched its free city tour for transit and transfer passengers.

The initiative is expected to increase passenger traffic at the airport, which is estimated to be around 30% of total traffic. The free tour has been organised by the Changi Airport Group (CAG), Singapore Airlines (SIA), and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

“The Free Singapore Tour (FST) returns on 3 April after a two-year hiatus! Transit and transfer passengers with a layover period of between 5.5 and 24 hours are eligible to join the FST,” said Changi Airport in a Tweet.

Tour Options

Existing tours, such as the City Sights Tour, the Jewel Tour, and the Heritage Tour, have been updated with new points of interest.

The tours last about 2.5 hours and are available every day. In addition, the Changi Precinct Tour, which will take passengers on an exploration of the Eastern region surrounding Singapore Changi Airport, will be introduced.

Booking Process

Advance booking is now available on Changi Airport’s website to help passengers plan their trips. Transfer and transit passengers with a layover of at least 5.5 hours but less than 24 hours are eligible for the free tour. Passengers must have a valid Singapore entry visa to participate in the tours.

Sustainability Features

The itinerary will highlight sustainability features at several locations, giving participants an overview of Singapore’s sustainability efforts.

This includes the Eco Community Garden on the roof of ‘Our Tampines Hub,’ environmental sustainability initiatives at Gardens by the Bay (as part of the City Sights Tour), and Jewel (as part of the Jewel Tour).

Lim Ching Kiat, Executive Vice President of Air Hub & Cargo Development at CAG, stated that they are delighted to bring back the free tour with the resumption of travel. He added that the initiative will encourage travellers to explore more within the airport.
