Singapore Airlines, Scoot to Convert All Flights From India to VTL Services; Return of A380 Confirmed From March 14

Recently the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has announced that it will extend the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) to more cities in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, in the view of the same Singapore Airlines (SIA) confirmed that it will convert all flights from India to Singapore to vaccinated travel lane (VTL) services.

This means travelers from eight cities across India will now be able to travel to Singapore without any quarantine.

VTL Flights From 8 Indian Cities

Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Singapore in a statement said, “While existing daily VTL flights will continue to operate from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai, all of SIA India flights that arrive in Singapore from March 16, 2022, will progressively operate as VTL services”

This also includes Singapore Airlines flights from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Kolkata.

Scoot New Flights Between Singapore India

Moreover, SIA’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot will convert non-VTL routes from Amritsar, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Tiruchirappalli, and Visakhapatnam to VTL services over time.

“Singapore’s decision to expand its VTL arrangement to cover all points across India will be a welcome development for all our customers. We continue to see strong demand across India from customers who are waiting to enjoy convenient and quarantine-free travel to Singapore.”

This means that travelers who have been vaccinated and are traveling between the two nations will no longer be subject to mandatory quarantine requirements upon arrival. Individuals wishing to enter Singapore must first apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) before applying for a visa.

A380 Back In Mumbai From March 14

Singapore Airlines To Deploy Airbus A380 To India

Singapore Airlines has also announced that it will begin flying A380s to India on March 14th. For the time being, Mumbai is the only Indian city to receive the Giant of the Skies, but Delhi is likely to follow soon.

It must be noted that Singapore Airlines currently operates a daily Airbus A350 service as well as a bi-weekly service with the same aircraft type to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

Daily flights will be replaced by the Airbus A380 under the new schedule, while the A350-900s will continue to operate on a twice-weekly basis.
