According to the state notification, the announcement comes after the COVID-19 situation in the state has continued to improve.

The notification was issued by Sikkim’s Home department;

This is the first occasion since May 2021 that all border check-posts have been restriction-free.

This will help both homegrown and outstation tourists who want to travel during the festive season.

The Sikkim government had earlier eased restrictions and norms for tourists visiting the state by doing away with mandatory checking of documents like vaccination certificates and RT-PCR test reports at the border check posts.
