Schengen Visa: Greece Embassy Resolved Issue of Visa Processing Delays

The Greece embassy claims to have resolved the issue that was creating visa processing delays and now applicants will get their Greece Visa within a fortnight. Greece is one of the 26 Schengen member nations that issue Schengen visas.

The Greece Embassy in New Delhi, India recently issued an update and said;

“The Embassy of Greece in New Delhi wishes to bring to the knowledge of all those Indian friends who are interested in traveling to Greece for their vacations or for business that a temporary problem that had occurred regarding the processing of the Schengen Visa applications in its Consular Office, has been entirely resolved. Consequently, it should be known that all applications are processed and answered timely and rapidly, i.e. in a period of less than 15 working days. Therefore the Embassy of Greece in New Delhi invites everyone wishing to visit Greece for holidays or business to apply for his/her Schengen Visa.”

It must be noted that the Schengen area covers 26 countries (Schengen States) without border controls between them;

Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Delays in Visa Processing

It is worth noting that, in recent months, pent-up demand has resulted in significant increases in visa processing times for Schengen nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and a few other countries.

A dramatic increase in post-Omicron demand for overseas travel has led to immense delays in visa processing, from obtaining an appointment slot to providing biometrics, submitting documents, and receiving passports.

Last month, the Govt of India intervened to speed visa processing for Indian students going overseas for education this fall, since applicants in all categories had been experiencing enormous delays.

Arindam Bagchi, the MEA’s official spokesman, inform about the progress and said;

“Senior MEA officials dealing with Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, UK & USA had constructive discussions with corresponding Heads of Missions/senior diplomats of these countries about streamlining student visas to Indian nationals.”
