As many as 13 international airlines have shifted their flight operations from Qatar’s Hamad International Airport to Qatar Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Doha International Airport (DIA) starting today, September 15.

Qatar has recently announced the reopening of Doha International Airport (DIA) the Qatar capital’s second airport, located 15 minutes away from the city centre and within 30 minutes from most of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ stadiums.

The decision to reopen Doha International Airport coincides with Qatar’s preparations for over a million visitors during the FIFA World Cup 2022. The move is expected to relieve congestion at Qatar’s sole international airport, Hamad International Airport in Doha.

It should be noted that up until the opening of Hamad International Airport on May 27, 2014, Doha International Airport served as Qatar’s primary commercial international airport.
