Qatar has announced that GCC citizens will be able to enter the country without a Hayya card. This decision will allow citizens of other GCC countries to enter Qatar without obtaining a Hayya card, which is a special permit required to attend FIFA World Cup in 2022.

It is worth noting that the country has banned the entry of travellers on a visitor visa for reasons other than attending the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The move is seen as an effort to boost tourism and strengthen ties between Qatar and other GCC countries.

A report published in Qatar News Agency (QNA) stated;

“The Ministry of the Interior announces that citizens and residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will be allowed to enter the country through its various ports without the need for a Hayya card for non-World Cup ticket holders, as of Tuesday, December 6, 2022.”

For citizens and residents of GCC countries:

  • Entry through airports without the requirement to obtain a Hayya card, starting today.
  • Entry through the land ports using buses as in normal conditions, with the allocation of free parking spaces.”

“Citizens and residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries can enter through the land port using private vehicles, starting from December 8, after applying for an entry permit on the Ministry of Interior website 12 hours before the travel date, without the condition of paying the vehicle advance entry permit fee,” QNA added.

This change will take effect immediately and will make it easier for GCC citizens to travel to Qatar for business or leisure. It is also expected to encourage more people to visit Qatar and experience its rich culture and attractions.
