Pune Airport Resume Flight Operations After 14 Days

After remaining closed for 14 days (16th-29th Oct) due to runway resurfacing work the Pune Airport has resumed flight operations from today.

The first flight was an Indigo flight from Delhi 6E-2867 which arrived at 08:06 am with 100 passengers on board.

“Back to operations! After being temporarily closed for runway resurfacing works, flights restarted today from AAI’s Pune Airport. The flights will operate from 08:00 to 20:00 hrs daily till 30.11.21. From 01.12.21 onwards, the flights will operate 24×7.”

It must be noted that currently the flight’s operations have resumed from 8 am to 8 pm and the airport will continue to remain shut for night operation till November 30.

Also, right now, only domestic flights are operational from the Pune Airport and at least 56 domestic flights will be operational from Pune airport starting 30th Oct 2021, Saturday.

According to the airport officials, “In a world record time of 14 days, the Military Engineering Services (MES) resurfaced a segment of the runway at the Pune Airport. Previously, comparable work would take 28-35 days. Today, flight operations were resumed.”

It may also be noted that in order to cause the least disturbance to civil aviation, the runway of Pune Airport was partially closed for 12 hours daily during the night from 26th October 2020 to 25th October 2021 for the resurfacing works.
