Portugal has unveiled its plans to revamp its online visa application platform, aiming to address the limited number of applications accepted and reduce long waiting times for visa approval.

The Secretary of State of Portuguese Communities, Paulo Cafôfo, announced the impending changes, highlighting the need for improvements to facilitate the entry of individuals into the country for various purposes.

Streamlining the Visa Process

According to a report by Portugal News, Cafôfo emphasized the detrimental impact of intermediaries securing available visa spots, deeming it an illegitimate practice. He also identified the reselling of visa slots as a significant problem.

Despite previous attempts to impose restrictions, these issues persist, prompting the decision to update the existing platform as a necessary measure to prevent abuse.
