PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Kushinagar International Airport

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. The Kushinagar airport will serve nearby districts of UP and Bihar and is an important step in boosting investment and employment opportunities in the region.

“More than 50 new airports, or those which were not in service earlier, have been made operational,” says PM Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh

PM Modi also said that a major step related to Air India was taken recently to run the country’s aviation sector professionally and to give priority to facilities & security. This step will give new energy to India’s aviation sector.

Delhi-Kushinagar direct flights from November 26

Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced direct flights between Delhi and Kushinagar four times a week starting from November 26.

Aviation Minister also said that direct flights to connect the Kushinagar airport to and from Mumbai, Kolkata will be launched soon

The inauguration of the Kushinagar International Airport has been marked by the landing of the inaugural flight at the airport from Colombo, Sri Lanka, carrying a Srilankan delegation of over a hundred Buddhist Monks & dignitaries including the 12-member Holy Relic entourage bringing the Holy Buddha Relics for Exposition.

The delegation also comprises of Anunayakas (deputy’s heads) of all four Nikatas (orders) of Buddhism in Sri Lanka i.e Asgiriya, Amarapura, Ramanya, Malwatta as well as five ministers of the Government of Sri Lanka led by Cabinet Minister Namal Rajapakshe.

The Kushinagar International Airport has been built at an estimated cost of ₹260 crores. It will facilitate domestic & international pilgrims to visit the Mahaparinirvana sthal of Lord Buddha and is an endeavor in connecting the Buddhist pilgrimage holy sites around the world.

The airport will serve nearby districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and is an important step in boosting the investment & employment opportunities in the region.
