Pakistan’s Railways Minister Sheikh Ahmad has announced today that the Samjhauta Express train service linking Delhi, India to Lahore, Pakistan has been ended permanently as Kashmir dispute continues, a day after Pakistan downgraded its diplomatic relations with India.

“We have decided to shut down Samjhauta Express, As long as I am railways minister it can’t operate.” railways minister Sheikh Rasheed told a news conference on Thursday.

Sheikh Ahmad has also twitted about the same from his official twitter handle.

The train services were started between India and Pakistan in 1976 under the Simla Agreement. India on Thursday asked Pakistan to review its decision to downgrade the diplomatic relations.
