Operation Ganga: India To Operate 19 More Flights To Bring Back Stranded Citizens

As you may be aware, Operation Ganga is an ongoing effort by the Indian government to deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate Indian citizens from Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Operation Ganga includes assistance to those who have crossed over to the neighboring countries of Romania, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, Slovakia.

It is estimated that nearly 17000 Indian nationals have left Ukraine since the initial advisories were issued. This includes some Indians who had not registered wilt the Embassy of India in Kyiv previously.

Flights under Operation Ganga have been increased. During the last 24 hours, 8 flights under Operation Gangs have landed in India, taking the total number of flights to 15. Out of these, 8 flights were from Bucharest, 5 from Budapest, and 2 from Rzeszow.

Flights Under Operation Ganga

The total number of Indians who have returned onboard these flights is 3352. Out of these, 1790 were evacuated through Romania, 430 through Poland, and 1126 through Hungary. As many as 19-flights are scheduled over the next few days, many of which are already enrooted.

Indian Air Force Join Operation Ganga

IAF has joined Operation Ganga, and the fret C-17 flight from Bucharest is expected to return to Delhi from Bucharest later tonight. 3 more IAF flights 8411 be undertaken today, from Budapest, Rzeszow, and Bucharest.
