The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India announced on Tuesday that the restrictions on domestic flight capacity will be removed from 18th October 2021. This means domestic carriers will be allowed to operate their flights at full capacity.
The announcement comes after the daily domestic passenger traffic crossed the 3-lakh mark over the weekend.
It must be noted that last month the aviation ministry has allowed domestic airlines to increased the capacity to 85 percent of their pre-Covid domestic flights instead of 72.5 percent.
“After review of the current status of Scheduled Domestic Operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel”, the ministry has been decided to “restore the scheduled domestic all operations with effect from 18-10-2021 without any capacity restriction,” the order stated.

The Govt of India Government had capped domestic flight capacity for nearly 17 months now, as they were first imposed in May 2020, following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.
