The Indian Embassy in Nepal on Tuesday issues an advisory and ask all Indian nationals to avoid travel to Nepal for the purposes of onward journeys to third countries.

The advisory comes after the Himalayan nation banned all foreign nationals from using Kathmandu as a transit point as part of its effort to combat the surge in coronavirus cases.

It must be noted that the Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal on 26 April 2021 issued a notification and said,

“The arrival of foreigners intending to travel to third countries via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and using TIA as transit airport will be restricted from 28 April 2021 midnight till the next notice”. However, “… the ongoing services provided to travelers arriving in Nepal as a final destination and departing from Nepal will be continued as usual”.

The latest restriction imposed by the Nepal govt will be effective from April 28 midnight and will continue till further notice.

Citing the notification, the Indian Embassy in a travel advisory asked its citizens to avoid travel to Nepal for the purposes of onward journeys to third countries because of restrictions after Wednesday.

It also noted that the ongoing services provided to travelers arriving in Nepal as the final destination and departing from Nepal will be continued as usual.

The embassy is in contact with Nepalese authorities to facilitate the travel of bona fide Indian nationals already in Nepal, it said.
