Negative RT-PCR Test Report Mandatory For All Passengers Travelling To Kolkata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that starting from May 07 all passengers coming to Kolkata will require to show a negative coronavirus (RT-PCR test) report not older than 72 hours.

This new rule will be applicable on all those who are travelling to the state by air, trains and buses.

“Incoming travelers on flights, long-distance trains, and inter-state buses must carry negative RT-PCR test reports,” CM Banerjee said.

It must be noted that Covid-affected passengers will also be sent to a 14-day quarantine arranged by the airport authorities.

Moreover, all inbound passengers will also require to fill up and submit the declaration form using the Sandhane App developed by the H&FW Department of West Bengal.

Till 06th May, the negative RT-PCR test rule is only applicable to those who are arriving at Kolkata Airport from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala & Telangana.

The Bengal Chief Minister also stated that random checking of passengers will be done in inter-state buses.

These new restrictions come hours after Mamata Banerjee took oath for a third straight term. Mamata was administered the oath of office by West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
