The airport is being built by GVK Mumbai International Airport Limited in a public-private partnership with CIDCO.

The terminal’s design is inspired by India’s national flower, the Lotus, which represents purity and elegance. The futuristic design aims to seamlessly blend modernity and Indian ethos. Zaha Hadid’s architectural firm designed the airport.
