Update: The MHA did not state anything in its ‘Unlock 4’ guidelines on the resumption of local train services. It was speculated before that the services might resume from the month of 1st September.
So, Mumbai is going to resume its local train services from September 1 onwards, various prominent media reports say that.
As we all know, the Indian Railway network operations including the Mumbai locals have been suspended due to the lockdown that that was imposed to curb the deadly coronavirus.
Not even food and other hospitalities were allowed to open at the railway station as the Railway Protection Force was hired to execute strict social distance and norms made by the government.
However, slowly, From June 14, some specific number of Suburban trains were allowed to resume their operations in the Mumbai metropolitan region but this too was in a very limited way.
But it was good for those passengers who were only engaged in essential services.
And, the list of essential services does not include bank employees or media persons. More than 1,25,000 employees are a part of the essential services of the state government.
As per the sources, a cabinet meeting is being scheduled on Wednesday, August 26, in which officials will discuss about letting lockdown ease for the railway and other stuff.
In case you forgot because of being shut in the home due to lockdown, let me remind you that Mumbai is famous for the local trains that people rely on for traveling within the city.
Almost the entire city depends on the local trains for transportation within the city.
But now there is good news – there is a possibility that the Mumbai local trains will restart from September 1st, right? So, let’s wait for the official announcement.
