In a significant development, the upcoming airport in Ayodhya is all set to be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. According to sources reported by news agency ANI, the airport will be named Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham.
This inauguration coincides with the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir scheduled for January 22, adding to the city’s cultural significance.
Both the airport and the recently refurbished railway station draw inspiration from the majestic architecture and cultural significance of the Ram Mandir, further enriching the pilgrim experience.
Prime Minister Modi’s Mega Unveiling
Prime Minister Modi is slated to inaugurate the airport, aligning with his vision for enhancing civic amenities and infrastructural development in Ayodhya.
Projects valued at over Rs 11,100 crore are on the agenda, with an additional Rs 4,600 crore allocated for initiatives across Uttar Pradesh. The airport’s inaugural phase, initially named Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, is set to commence operations on January 6.
Cutting-Edge Facility to Serve Pilgrims
Constructed with an initial investment exceeding Rs 1,450 crore, the state-of-the-art airport features a terminal spanning an impressive 6,500 square meters. This cutting-edge facility is poised to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers annually, catering to both pilgrims visiting the Ram Temple and general travellers.
Flights Taking Off: Connectivity to Major Cities
IndiGo and Air India Express are gearing up to kickstart operations from the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham on December 30. Notably, the airlines have announced routes from Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, with services expected to begin in January 2024.
IndiGo Airlines’ Strategic Plans
With the commencement of operations in Ayodhya, IndiGo Airlines will add Ayodhya as its 86th domestic destination and the 118th overall destination in its extensive network.
IndiGo Airlines, in particular, is set to play a pivotal role in connecting Ayodhya with key cities. The airline will initiate direct flights between Mumbai and Ayodhya from January 15, 2024.
Operations from Delhi to Ayodhya are scheduled to commence on January 6, 2024, followed by flights from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya starting January 11, 2024.
Inaugural Flight Details
The inaugural flight from Delhi to Ayodhya is set to arrive on December 30, 2023. Subsequently, commercial operations for direct flights between Delhi and Ayodhya will begin on January 6, 2024, followed by tri-weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad and Ayodhya from January 11, 2024.
As the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham takes flight, it not only serves as a crucial travel hub but also stands as a symbol of cultural and spiritual significance, connecting Ayodhya with the rest of the country.
