In a major development for Jaipur’s international travel connectivity, Jaipur Airport has launched a brand-new terminal dedicated solely to international flights.
Located in Sanganer, the terminal has repurposed the airport’s original building, revitalized with modern amenities and cultural design elements that capture the essence of Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City.
New Era Begins for International Travelers
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the new terminal on October 27, marking its first operational day with the arrival of an Air India Express flight from Dubai just after midnight. The new facility is expected to significantly enhance the city’s capacity to serve international travellers, accommodating up to 1.5 million passengers annually.
Expands International Flight Connections
Jaipur currently offers flights to six international destinations, largely centred around the Middle East and Kuala Lumpur. This route network primarily supports the region’s workforce travelling for employment and business opportunities in the Gulf.
With the addition of the new terminal, Jaipur aims not only to boost passenger traffic but also to significantly enhance travel convenience and efficiency for this important traveller segment.
Modern Facilities Enhance Jaipur Airport Experience
The terminal offers an array of services designed to meet the needs of international travellers:
- Check-in Counters: 10 check-in counters for a quick and hassle-free experience.
- Duty-Free Shopping: A selection of duty-free outlets with international brands.
- Food and Beverage Options: Multiple dining choices to suit diverse tastes.
- Passenger Lounge: A comfortable lounge area for waiting passengers.
Additional facilities include medical services and an ambulance on standby, ensuring comprehensive support for all passengers.
Design Reflecting Jaipur’s Heritage and Culture
Embodying Jaipur’s rich cultural heritage, the terminal is adorned with intricate motifs and artistic representations of camels, elephants, peacocks, and palaces.
The interior’s vibrant colour scheme, with shades of orange and purple, reflects Jaipur’s aesthetic, complemented by traditional wood carvings and “jaali” work, hallmarks of the city’s architectural legacy.
Eco-Friendly and Advanced Infrastructure
Covering over 128,000 square feet, the terminal prioritizes sustainability, using recyclable materials throughout its construction to align with global trends in eco-friendly airport design. This commitment to sustainability extends to the terminal’s operations, establishing it as a model of responsible design.
Final Words
Terminal 1 at Jaipur International Airport sets a benchmark in modern airport design, offering passengers a seamless and comfortable travel experience with state-of-the-art security and world-class amenities.
This new facility underscores Jaipur’s growing importance as an international gateway, promising to enhance connectivity, convenience, and cultural immersion for travellers passing through the Pink City.
