International Arrivals: Uploading Vaccine Certificate Or RT-PCR Report On Air Suvidha Portal May Not Required

Good News! The Indian government is strongly considering eliminating the requirement that international travellers upload their COVID-19 vaccination certificate or negative RT-PCR test report on the Air Suvidha portal before arriving in India.

However, the need that all foreign arrivals in India to complete the self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal would continue to be in force.

According to the sources, passengers have been complaining about the portal being down on a regular basis, as well as difficulty accessing forms and uploading certificates, and the removal of the provision may come as a relief to them.

“The Civil Aviation Ministry recently sought inputs from the Union Health Ministry for removing the provision which requires international passengers to upload the covid vaccine certificate or the RT-PCR negative report on the Air Suvidha portal citing inconvenience faced by travellers,” the sources said.

“The health ministry is expected to give its go-ahead soon,” the sources further added.

The aviation ministry has received feedback from travellers about the difficulties they have had in uploading their certificates prior to their journey.

With international travel returning to pre-pandemic levels, several countries have taken steps to ease requirements and restrictions, they said.

It is worth noting that, to ensure the smooth passage of international travellers arriving in India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry (MoCA) of the Government of India mandated contactless self-declaration at the Air Suvidha Portal in August 2020.
