India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is set to launch its new ‘IndiGoStretch’ business class service in mid-November, covering 12 routes including major cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. This significant shift marks IndiGo’s transition from a ‘no-frills’ airline to catering to premium flyers.
Launching Business Class on Metro Routes
At a recent event, IndiGo’s Chief Executive Pieter Elbers announced the debut of the business class product on the Delhi-Mumbai route, with plans to extend this offering to 12 major domestic routes by the end of 2025.
Starting August 6, passengers can book business class seats for travel commencing on November 14. The introductory fare for these premium seats will be ₹18,018.
Introducing ‘IndiGo Stretch’
IndiGo has branded its new business class offering as ‘IndiGo Stretch,’ designed to provide passengers with a range of premium features and enhanced comfort. This marks a significant shift from IndiGo’s traditional all-economy, low-cost model.
The new business class seats promise a luxurious experience with ample space and various amenities to cater to the needs of discerning travellers.

Fleet Expansion and Future Plans
As of June 30, IndiGo’s fleet comprised 382 aircraft, with an ambitious plan to add one aircraft every week, aiming to double its fleet by 2030. This expansion is part of IndiGo’s strategy to transform its service offerings and cater to a broader customer base.
Introducing the BluChip Loyalty Program
IndiGo also unveiled its upcoming loyalty program, BluChip, set to launch in September. Pre-registration for BluChip has already begun. Members will accumulate IndiGo BluChips based on their spending on each flight and can redeem these points for up to five nominees.
Expanding Services and Market Share
As of the end of June, IndiGo operated scheduled services to 88 domestic and over 30 international destinations. The airline plans to add seven more international destinations by the end of the current financial year in March 2025. IndiGo currently holds a dominant 60.8% share of the domestic aviation market and has an order book of over 970 aircraft.
With these developments, IndiGo is poised to redefine air travel in India, offering enhanced services and expanding its reach both domestically and internationally.
