IndiGo to suspend Kolkata- Hong Kong flights

Major LCC airline IndiGo on Tuesday announced that the airline is going to suspend its Kolkata Hong Kong services from November 6.

The airline said that the reason behind this decision is poor commercial results affected by the ongoing Hong Kong protest.

“We are in the process of evaluating alternate route options between India and Hong Kong and IndiGo will start operations as soon as possible,” IndiGo said after suspending Kolkata Hong Kong flights.

The airline also said that “Affected passengers are being contacted and will be offered refunds or alternative travel arrangements.”

The airline, which currently operates flights from Bangalore and Kolkata to Hong Kong, will, however, continue flights from the southern city.

The business capital of the world, Hong Kong, has seen public protests calling for democracy in the past few weeks.

This has lead to the disruption of businesses and losses huge loses for the corporates with business interests in the area.

The national carrier of India, Air India – which operates flights to Hong Kong from Mumbai and Delhi, will continue its operations without reducing the frequency, a spokesperson of the airline said.
