IndiGo Start Flights Operation From Orvakal Airport

Low-cost carrier IndiGo has opened flight bookings between Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam and Chennai, and Orvakal from February 15.

The airline will operate flights from Orvakal under India’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN.

Orvakal airport will begin operations on March 28. The town of Orvakal is located in the Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The first official flight at Orvakal will land from Bengaluru on March 28 at 1010 hours.

The airport at Orvakal is on the outskirts of Kurnool city. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recently given its approval to Orvakal airport to begin operations. 

This would be the first airport in South India to be developed entirely by a state government (Andhra Pradesh).
