While India is resuming air travel with various nations, IndiGo and SpiceJet are initially leasing long-haul aircrafts as part of a wet-lease to start flights to the UK and Europe.
While SpiceJet has already leased an Oman Air Airbus 330 to start flights to London from July 27, IndiGo is in talks to lease it.
IndiGo has not yet finalized on destinations but may fly to London and Paris both initially, according to sources.
It would be the first time that these airlines operate such long-haul flights.
Getting Indian airlines to operate international long-haul flights was a consistent effort by Aviation Minister Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri.
