Indian Railways Suspends All Passenger Trains till May 3

Indian railway extends the suspension of passenger trains in India till May 3, a senior Indian Railway official confirms.

“All passenger train services on Indian Railways including Premium trains, Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains, Suburban Trains, Kolkata Metro Rail, Konkan Railway, etc shall continue to remain to cancel till the 2400hrs of 3rd May 2020.” Indian railway said in a tweet.

The ticketing body of Indian Railway, IRCTC has already cancelled it’s all three private trains till 30th April.

Earlier railway has suspended all passenger trains till 14th April when the lockdown first imposed due to COVID-19.

The new extension of passenger trains comes after PM Modi announces the national wide lockdown extension on Tuesday.

The railway will provide full refunds of tickets booked for travel between 15th April to 3rd May 2020.

INFORMATION RELATED TO ONLINE BOOKING AND REFUND OF E-TICKET

  • For trains cancelled till 3rd May 2020 by Indian Railways, a full refund will be provided automatically by IRCTC. Users need not cancel their e-tickets. Full fare will be credit.’ back into users accounts from which payment was made.
  • Passengers who have already cancelled their E-tickets for train cancelled by railways will also be eligible for a refund of full ticket fare including cancellation/clerkage charges.
  • No advance reservation of train tickets, including E-tickets, till further advice, however, the facility of online cancellation will remain functional.
  • A full refund will also be there for those cancelling the advance bookings of tickets for trains not yet cancelled.
