To facilitate travel and tourism, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced that nationals of Japan, South Korea, and the UAE can now avail of the Visa-on-Arrival facility in India. This announcement was made in a reply to the Lok Sabha on Monday.
This Visa-on-Arrival option is available for various purposes, including tourism, business, conferences, and medical visits, allowing a stay of up to 60 days with double entry privileges.
The introduction of this facility aims to simplify the visa process, making travel to India more convenient for citizens from these countries.
Designated Airports for Visa-on-Arrival
The Visa-on-Arrival facility can be utilized at six designated international airports across India. This strategic move is designed to enhance the overall travel experience, providing greater ease and flexibility for international visitors.
The specific airports equipped with this facility ensure that travellers from Japan, South Korea, and the UAE can seamlessly enter India without the need for pre-arranged visas.
Expanded E-Visa Facility for 167 Countries
In addition to the Visa-on-Arrival, the Ministry of Tourism has significantly expanded the e-visa facility. The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is now accessible to nationals of 167 countries. This expanded e-visa permits entry through 30 designated international airports and six major seaports across India.
The broadening of the e-Visa facility represents a substantial enhancement in India’s efforts to welcome international tourists. By offering a more accessible and user-friendly visa process, India aims to attract a larger number of visitors from diverse regions around the world.
Conclusion
India’s efforts to simplify visa processes and enhance tourist safety and assistance reflect its commitment to becoming a top travel destination. The introduction of the Visa-on-Arrival facility for Japanese, South Korean, and UAE nationals, along with the expanded e-Visa availability, marks a significant step in making India more accessible to international travellers.
Combined with ongoing research and the establishment of tourist police and a multi-lingual helpline, these initiatives ensure that visitors can enjoy a seamless and enjoyable travel experience in India.
