India Extends Suspension of Regular International Flights Till June 30

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India on Friday in a circular extends the suspension of scheduled international flights to/from India till June 30, 2021.

However, the restrictions will not apply to international cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA (Vande Bharat Mission and Air Bubbles)

In partial modification of circular dated 26-06-2020, the competent authority has further extended the validity of the circular issued on the subject cited above regarding Scheduled International commercial passenger services to/from India till 2359 hrs IST of 30th June 2021. This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA,” said DGCA in a circular

However, International Scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on case to case basis, the circular further added.

Vande Bharat Mission

It is worth mentioning that all scheduled international passenger flights have been suspended in India since March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic, special flights have been operating under the Vande Bharat mission since May.

Air Bubble Arrangements

Apart from the Vande Bharat Mission India has bilateral air bubble agreements with around 28 countries, which include — Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, the Maldives, Nepal, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Ukraine, the UAE, the UK, Uzbekistan, and the US.

Travel Restrictions

However, due to the huge surge in Covid-19 cases in India, many countries had announced a Travel Ban/Flight Suspension/Travel Restrictions from travelers from India. Till now a total of 28 countries have suspended flights or puts restrictions on Indian travelers.
