India Brings Back Over 44.7 Lakh People Under Vande Bharat Mission

Anurag Srivastava, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that the World’s largest repatriation exercise Vande Bharat Mission has been brought back more than 44.7 lakh people since May 2020.

Phase 9 of Vande Bharat Mission has been made operational from 1st January 2021 and 1,495 international flights have been scheduled which will be operated from 24 countries.

The Ministry has also announced the full schedule of Vande Baharat Mission Phase 9.

The schedule includes flights from Afghanistan, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, and the USA.

As of 06th January, 261 of these flights have been operated and facilitated the return of 49 thousand people from 19 countries, Srivastava added.

It must be noted that India has extended the ban on scheduled international flights till 31st January 2021 and special flights under the Vande Bharat Mission and Air Bubble Arrangements are allowed to operate.
