Govt. Plans Tier-2,3 Airports Monetisation And Air India Sale

The Finance Minister Of India Nirmala Sitharaman announced today that the government is going to monetise state-run airports in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities for operations and management in Union Budget-2021-22.

Next lot of airports to be monetised for operations and management,” said the finance minister.

The government commenced privatisation of airports in 2018.

During the first phase of privatization, the government granted the Adani Group the operation and management of Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangalore airports.

The government will also soon invite preliminary bids for the next set of state-run airports for privatisation.

The minister also said that the government will complete the divestment process of national carrier Air India and Pawan Hans during 2021-22.

While the government has not yet informed interested bidders for Air India, the sale process for Pawan Hans is expected to start again in February after earlier failed attempts.
