Germany Visa: VFS Global Issues Updates, New Visa Appointments Available Soon

VFS Global, a provider of outsourcing and technology services to governments and diplomatic missions, has recently issued a few updates for Germany Visa customers in India.

According to the VFS Global, new visa appointment slots for student visas will be available soon, However, visa applications will now require additional documentation. The action was taken solely to expedite admission and visa processing.

As per a major update from VFS Global, the German Embassy introduces the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS), which is attached to the Science Section of this Embassy, in order to accelerate student admission and visa processing.

Students Must Submit APS Certificates

From November 1st onwards, APS certificates will be a mandatory part of the documents to be submitted with your visa application. This means: Applicants need an APS certificate before filing a visa application. APS will be open for applications beginning October 1st, 2022. For more detailed information, please consult www.aps-india.de.

In short, students will need to…

  • Apply for APS certificate starting October 1st
  • Book your appointment via VFS after having obtained the APS-certificate
  • Appointments will take place starting November 1st.

New Appointment Slots for Student Visa

VFS Global Update

The VFS also informed about the opening of new visa slots for students stating, “We will open new appointment slots for student visa applications through VFS Global. These slots are valid for applications to be submitted starting November 1st, 2022.”

The VFS also stated that because there are still a number of entries on the appointment waitlist for winter semester 2022, please keep in mind that the Embassy / Consulates are unable to verify who is in possession of a still valid admission from a German university.

As a result, all students are kindly asked to register for an appointment only if they have obtained all the required documents.

German Consulate Changed Visa Fee for Schengen and National Visa

According to an announcement made by the German Consulate in Mumbai, visa fees for the Schengen and National Visa for applicants in India have been revised with immediate effect.

When applying for a Schengen Visa, the Consulate charges a fee of ₹6400 for adults and ₹3200 for minors. When you applied for a National Visa, however, the fees were ₹6000 and ₹3000, respectively.

For Schengen Visa:

  • Current visa fees for a Schengen visa application of an adult amount to 6400 INR.
  • The fee for a Schengen visa application for a minor amounts to 3200 INR.

For National Visas:

  • The updated visa fees for a national visa application of an adult amount to 6000 INR.
  • The fees for a national visa application of a minor amount to 3000 INR.
