Germany Revised Visa Fees For Schengen and National Visas

The Consulate General of Germany in Mumbai earlier this month revised the Visa fees for Schengen and National visas for applicants in India.

According to an update posted by the German Consulate General in Mumbai, effective December 5, it has increased visa fees and now charges a revised visa fee of ₹6800 for an adult and ₹3400 for minors when applying for a Schengen Visa. While applying for a National Visa, the fees were ₹6400 and ₹3200, respectively.

It is worth noting that previously, the Schengen visa fee was only ₹6400, while for the national visa the German consulate charged ₹6000 for adults.

For Schengen Visa:

  • Current visa fees for a Schengen visa application of an adult amount to 6800 INR.
  • The fee for a Schengen visa application for a minor amount to 3400 INR.

For National Visas:

  • The updated visa fees for a national visa application of an adult amount to 6400 INR.
  • The fees for a national visa application of a minor amount to 3200 INR.

“All customers are requested to pay the visa fees at the time of submission at VFS,” according to the consulate’s official website.

It goes on to say that only visa officers at the Consulate can determine whether or not a visa fee exemption applies. If the applicant is eligible for a visa fee exemption, a refund will be issued later.

(All above fees mentioned are inclusive of CGST 9% and SGST 9%)

According to an update on its official website, the visa section does not accept cash. Please bring a demand draft for the appropriate amount. The demand draught must be made payable to the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai.

In addition, a fee of 45,000 INR will be charged for document verification in the case of some national visas, and NOT at the time of application.

Only applicants for Job Seeker and Specialty Cook visas will be required to present a demand draught of 45,000 INR at the time of application.
