Flights Between India And UK To Resume From January 8

Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday in a tweet announced that flight operation between India and UK will resume from 8th January 2021.

Initially, the flights for the United Kingdom will only be operated To/From Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad; Also the flight operations till January 23rd will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for Indian and UK carriers.

“It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8th January 2021. Operations till 23 Jan will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of two countries to & from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Hyderabad only.”

Puri, further added that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be issuing a detailed guideline shortly.

The Govt. of India had initially announced the ban on all flights from the UK from 23rd December 31st December 2020.

Earlier this week, India had extended the temporary suspension of flights between India and the UK till 7th January 2021.

Till now, India has reported around 29 positive cases for the SARS-COV-2 variant so far, which is believed to have a higher rate of transmission.

The United Kingdom was one among the 24 nations with whom India had an air bubble arrangement.

Prior to the temporary suspension, Air India, Vistara, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic were operating over 60 flights every week, carrying around 2,500 passengers per day.
