Dubai Airport Installed Face And Iris Scanners For Check-In

Dubai Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international travel has introduced something that could well signal a different, perhaps simpler, contact-less airport experience.

Passengers can now use an iris-scanner that verifies their identity, thus getting rid of any human interaction when entering or leaving the country.

Last Sunday, passengers walked up to the iris scanners, stood there for a few seconds and passed right through. So mobile apps, boarding passes and tickets are old school methods.

The scanners are placed at automated gates which directly connect to the official database of the country for facial recognition and background checks.

However, this move has also raised concerns about mass surveillance in the sheikdom. That is not surprising as Dubai has the highest per capita concentrations of surveillance cameras in the world.
