DigiYatra Facility Now Available at 9 More Indian Airports: Full List

The DigiYatra facility, a cutting-edge biometric system leveraging facial recognition technology, was officially launched across nine Airport Authority of India (AAI) airports on Friday. This system aims to streamline airport processes, including terminal entry and security clearances, offering travellers a seamless experience.

Launch Highlights

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the DigiYatra facility at Visakhapatnam Airport during a ceremony, with a virtual launch extending the service to eight other AAI airports. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the digital travel experience for passengers nationwide.

List of Newly Integrated Airports

The DigiYatra facility is now available at the following airports:

  1. Bhubaneswar
  2. Coimbatore
  3. Dabolim
  4. Indore
  5. Bagdogra
  6. Ranchi
  7. Patna
  8. Raipur
  9. Visakhapatnam

During the launch, Minister Naidu emphasized the primary benefit of the DigiYatra system: providing a contactless and hassle-free experience for passengers at more airports across India.

“We are inaugurating nine DigiYatra facilities across nine airports today. The most significant aspect of this service is its ability to offer seamless and contactless travel to passengers,” Naidu said.

Where Can You Use DigiYatra?

DigiYatra currently operates at 14 major airports spanning India’s diverse landscape. These include major hubs such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kolkata, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, Jaipur, Pune, Kochi, and Chennai.

A Game-Changer in Aviation

Naidu described DigiYatra as a transformative technological advancement in the civil aviation industry. He noted the growing adoption of the system, with over three crore users already benefiting from this innovative solution. “DigiYatra is set to redefine how passengers navigate airport procedures,” he added.

Initially launched at New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi airports in December 2022, DigiYatra has gradually expanded to other locations. The system enhances the travel experience by streamlining procedures such as entry, security checks, and boarding, using facial recognition technology to make the process more efficient and paperless.

How DigiYatra Works

DigiYatra operates as a decentralized, mobile-based ID storage platform. Passengers can securely store their identification and travel documents, enabling a smoother journey through the airport.

The system supports self-bag drop and check-in by recognizing passengers through facial recognition, eliminating the need for repeated identity checks and physical documentation.

Future Expansion Plans

Minister Naidu also highlighted the government’s ambitious plans for India’s aviation sector. “India currently has 157 airports, and we aim to increase this number to 400 in the coming years,” he stated, underscoring the ongoing efforts to expand and modernize the country’s airport infrastructure.

With the launch of DigiYatra at these nine airports, India continues to lead in integrating technology into air travel, making the experience more convenient and secure for passengers nationwide.
