Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi has announced that by the end of March 2023, it will have implemented DigiYatra at all entry and boarding gates in Terminals 2 and 3. DigiYatra is a digital platform that uses facial recognition technology to make air travel more convenient and efficient for passengers.

Efforts to Enhance Passenger Experience

The airport’s operator, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a GMR-led consortium, has been working to make all entry and boarding gates in Terminals 2 and 3 DigiYatra-enabled.

This change will provide passengers with a more seamless and enhanced travel experience. While remaining completely contactless, the platform provides hassle-free travel, faster mobility to boarding gates, enhanced security, and dedicated gates.

Growing Popularity of DigiYatra

DIAL stated that the number of DigiYatra users in Delhi has gradually increased since its launch on December 1, 2022. According to reports, after the installation of DigiYatra infrastructure at Terminals 2 and 3, approximately 40% of daily domestic passengers will have seamless entry into the security check area, terminal, and boarding gates.

Time-Saving Benefits for Passengers

DigiYatra will save travellers between 15 and 25 minutes in the entire process, from entry checks to security checks. This will be accomplished by shaving off a few seconds at each touchpoint. Every day, approximately 2,500 passengers use DigiYatra at the airport.
