Due to Cyclone Yass, Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport has suspended all flight operations between 8.30 am and 7.45 pm on Wednesday, 26th May.

“In view of the weather warning by IMD over Cyclone Yaas, flight operations at Kolkata Airport will be suspended from 0830 IST up to 1945 IST on 26.05.2021. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” said Kolkata Airport in a Tweet.

Indian airline carriers like Air India and IndiGo have also informed about the closure of Kolkata Airport and said that due to the cyclone its flight operations will be impacted.
“Kolkata airport will be closed for operations from 0830 to 1945 hrs (IST) on 26th May 2021 due to Cyclone Yaas. There will be no flights operating to/from Kolkata.” Air India said in a tweet.

Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport has also suspended flight operation from 11:00 PM today 25th May’21 till 05:00 AM on 27th May’21. Moreover, Jharsuguda airport will remain shut from 00:01 AM of 26th May’21 to 07:45 AM of 27th May’21, and Durgapur & Rourkela Airports to be closed on 26th May’21.

Cyclone Yaas
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Cyclone Yaas is expected to make its landfall near Dhamra Port in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. Cyclone Yaas is likely to have windspeeds of 155 Kmph to 165 Kmph, gusting to 185 Kmph.
