Canada is all set to start processing online applications for visitor visa and electronic travel authorizations (eTA) from July 1.

As per a media release, even the travel restrictions are still in place, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are resuming processing visitor visa and eTA in an effort to be proactive on future processing times.

IRCC also notes that because of current travel restrictions, most people won’t be able to visit Canada at this point of time.

Travel exemptions are for family members who are staying for over 15 days or who are coming to Canada for an important reason, skilled workers, and others.

Travelers must also demonstrate to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) that they’re traveling for an important reason in order to be granted entry to Canada.

IRCC is also processing online applications for study permits, work permits, and permanent residence. No paper applications for these immigration documents are accepted for now.

Canada has put measures in place to make sure applicants have the time they need to complete all steps of the application process, including giving their biometrics. There are some visa application centers (VACs) reopening around the world.

However, it is still mandatory to quarantine for 14 days for all people who enter Canada from abroad. it’s also required that travelers provide border agents with an adequate quarantine plan.
